We started our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) journey over 7 years ago. Whilst initially we invested a fair amount of management time formalising and documenting our internal processes to meet the ISO 9001 standard requirements, it was certainly time well spent. Our QMS has been enhanced over the years and has provided a valuable and robust management framework which has enabled the business to grow significantly. It probably helps that as a group of auditors we are by nature and professional training process driven – we like a set of steps to follow!
Each year we are audited by BSI and last week their auditor spent 8 hours asking probing questions of Darren, the Directors and other consultants to determine if we have reached the highest level of proficiency in all aspects of our management processes. During which time we were required to:
- Have our working papers and processes reviewed, tested and interrogated
- Evidence our continuous improvement and lessons learnt process
- Free up team members to be interviewed
- Demonstrate compliance with all areas of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality management standard
I am pleased to say we passed with flying colours. No non-conformances, observations or areas for improvement. So well worth the effort.
