Open Book Contract Setup
Working with clients and contractors early on in a project means those time consuming, deeply damaging cost issues which emerge at the back end of projects, are largely avoided. The warning signs for problems are nearly always there early on, with red flags at the procurement stage, contract placement, initial mobilisation, Application for Payment delivery, cost audit and so on. The key is to spot them and take appropriate action.
Setting up a reimbursable or target cost contract for success doesn’t simply happen by sending a list of requirements to your main contractor or by documenting a process in a contract. It requires open conversations and structured, knowledgeable reviews of specific capabilities, processes and systems.
We provide an independent assessment as to whether a new contractor has the appropriate financial systems, processes, controls, people, reporting, and governance to effectively manage and support a large and complex open-book reimbursable contract.
Our 20 years’ experience providing cost assurance on over a thousand similar contracts means we quickly identify gaps between the current organisation and best practice. We propose actions to close those gaps, thereby enhancing control over the duration or remainder of the project.
