As forensic accountants we love working with numbers and statistics and are passionate about encouraging the teaching of maths at an early age in an accessible and fun way.
For the last 18 months we have been supporting Primary Schools located close to our key clients in promoting the teaching of maths in a fun way. As part of this initiative at the end of last year we introduced a range of The Orange Partnership “Young Maths Hero” Awards, each bespoke to the schools’ particular maths objectives. These are currently being presented to young maths heroes from 7 primary schools across the country, spanning from Whitehaven and Durham in the North, to Bridgwater in the South.
Maths Award Winner at Bransty Primary School in Whitehaven
Whitehaven is close to Sellafield which has been an important client for several years. Since Christmas we have been collaborating with the Head Teacher of Bransty School and together we have created the “Huge Progress in Maths Award”. The Award Ceremony was in July and the amazing winner was the young man pictured above.
About the winner:
“This young man has made outstanding achievement in maths and making huge progress from years 1-6.
He has continuously worked at and above the expected standard in a Maths and gone from strength to strength, even tackling some year 7 work, ready for secondary school.
He has also achieved greater depth standard in all of his assessments this year, including his end of KS2 SATS, an incredible achievement.”
Maths is such an important life skill, and we are delighted that working with Sellafield has meant we have been able to support this very deserving school.
