As forensic accountants we love working with numbers and statistics and are passionate about encouraging the teaching of maths at an early age in an accessible and fun way.
For the last 18 months we have been supporting Primary Schools located close to our key clients in promoting the teaching of maths in a fun way. As part of this initiative at the end of last year we introduced a range of The Orange Partnership “Young Maths Hero” Awards, each bespoke to the schools’ particular maths objectives. These are currently being presented to young maths heroes from 7 primary schools across the country, spanning from Whitehaven and Durham in the North, to Bridgwater in the South.
Maths Award Winners at Fir Tree School in Newbury
This week we received a lovely update from Fir Tree School in Newbury. Newbury is close to AWE which has been an important client for several years. Since Christmas we have been collaborating with the Head Teacher of Fir Tree School in Newbury and together we have created the “Resilient Mathematicians Awards”. The Award Ceremony was last Friday and the six winners were very proud to receive their trophies and certificates.
The Head Teacher also wrote:
“Honestly, the children were flabbergasted to be chosen and to see the genuine pride and admiration from their peers cheering their success made me very proud.
Jenny said ‘I didn’t like Maths, but now I am getting better and all the counters and things in the class help me.’
James said ‘I really enjoyed fractions this year, it tested me and was hard, but I kept going and persevered.’
Thank you so much for your support.”
Maths is such an important life skill, and we are delighted that working with AWE has meant we have been able to support this very deserving school.
